If you worked in Australia on a temporary visa and you’ve now left, you may be able to withdraw your AMP Super Fund as a Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP).
You may be eligible to claim your AMP Super Fund Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP) if:
Identity documents
Your passport details (passport number, full name, date of birth).
If your AMP balance is above $5,000, certified copies of your passport/ID are commonly requested.
If you’re overseas, certification is often completed by a Notary Public or an Australian Embassy/Consulate.
Visa information
Your visa subclass/type.
Evidence that your visa is now expired or has been cancelled (as required for a DASP claim).
Your AMP account details
Your AMP member number (if available).
Make sure your personal details exactly match AMP records to reduce verification delays.
Payment information
AMP commonly prefers payment to an Australian bank account in your own name.
If you don’t have one, AMP may accept international bank details or issue a cheque depending on policy.
Exact identity matching
Your name and date of birth must match your AMP member profile exactly. Even small spelling differences can trigger additional checks.
Certified ID for higher balances
For balances of $5,000 or more, AMP commonly requires certified proof of identity and may seek extra immigration evidence for complex cases.
Possible ATO transfer
If you don’t claim within certain timeframes, your AMP balance may be transferred to the ATO as unclaimed super. In that case you must claim from the ATO instead of directly from AMP.
When you withdraw your AMP super, your account balance reduces to $0 and any insurance cover linked to that account may end. If you plan to keep super in Australia or open another account, consider how this affects your insurance before proceeding.
Confirm eligibility
You must have permanently left Australia and your temporary visa must be expired or cancelled to use the DASP process.
Submit DASP
Most applicants use the ATO online DASP system. AMP then verifies your identity and claim details based on the information received.
Provide documents if requested
If AMP requests certified ID or additional information, send documents that meet their certification and wording standards.
Payment
Once AMP finishes its checks, payment is released to your nominated bank account (timing depends on document quality and any follow-up).
We confirm your visa status and check whether your AMP balance is still with AMP or has moved to the ATO.
We help you gather passport, visa details, AMP member information, and bank details in the correct format.
If certified documents are required, we guide the exact wording and who can certify documents in your country.
We assist with DASP submission and help manage AMP follow-ups until your claim is finalised.
Once approved, payment is released to your nominated bank account. We help you understand any tax withheld.
