Who can apply for a Brighter Super DASP?

You may be eligible to claim your Brighter Super Departing Australia Superannuation Payment (DASP) if:

  • You have left Australia and don’t intend to live there, and
  • Your temporary visa has expired or has been cancelled, and
  • You are not an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen, and
  • Super contributions were paid into your Brighter Super account while you were working in Australia.
Brighter Super note: New Zealand citizens cannot use the DASP process due to the Trans-Tasman arrangement. They usually need a Trans-Tasman transfer request instead.

If you do not claim your Brighter Super balance within certain timeframes after leaving Australia, eligible amounts may be transferred to the ATO as unclaimed super. In that case, you must claim from the ATO instead of directly from Brighter Super.
